Finding Direction

I always wanted to learn more about fashion and design. When I started here, it felt like I had finally found the right place to begin.

Jyoti

Jyoti's journey with the Foundation began as a student, but her interest in fashion had been clear much earlier. Encouraged by her mother, Lajwanti Ji, who has been part of the Foundation for over a decade, she joined Project Shakti to explore this interest more seriously.

She enrolled in a 45-day course in basic tailoring and design. What started as an introduction quickly became something more. Jyoti showed a natural ability for the work and a willingness to keep improving. After completing her training, she continued working with the Foundation, where her skills became evident through the pieces she helped create.

Building the Future She Imagined

Over time, Jyoti shared her aspiration to pursue fashion more seriously. Seeing both her clarity and commitment, the Foundation supported her in undertaking a one-year diploma in fashion design. Today, she works as an Assistant Merchandiser, contributing to sample development and coordinating with the women across the programme. Her journey reflects a steady shift, from learning a skill to building a profession. Jyoti continues to grow in her role, with the same focus she began with. What once felt uncertain now has direction, shaped by her own effort and the opportunities she chose to take forward.
