Learning a New Path
“I lost everything during COVID, but I refused to let it stop me. Today, I earn for my daughter and myself, and I know I can face whatever comes next.”

Sona Ji arrived at the Foundation during COVID-19, at a moment when life had changed completely. After the loss of her husband, she was left to rebuild, with her young daughter by her side. She stepped into a space that was entirely new to her, carrying both uncertainty and a determination to find a way forward.
She had never worked with her hands in this way before. Quilting, the discipline of it, the patience it demanded, all of it had to be learned from the beginning. She took to it one step at a time, allowing herself the time to understand, to make mistakes, and to improve. What stayed constant was her willingness to return each day and try again.
Holding On, Moving Ahead
There were moments when the path ahead was not clear, but she did not let that stop her. It was her strength, along with the support she found at the Foundation, that helped her keep going. Gradually, the work began to feel familiar. What once felt uncertain started to take shape in her hands, and with it came a growing sense of confidence.
A Place She Has Made Her Own
Today, Sona Ji is a valued member of the quilting team. Her work reflects the time, effort, and persistence she has put into learning her craft. Through it, she earns for herself and her daughter, creating stability and a sense of direction for their future. Her journey is not defined by the moment she arrived, but by everything she chose to build after it.
